KIA: 6/16/1979 – 10/23/2008
SSgt Brian Hause was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania, to Kathy Levernight Hause, on June 16th 1979. From a young age he had a love for animals and all things outdoors, but especially his family and friends. As he grew up, he spent countless hours with his “Pap” whom he admired and respected. His mom recalls, “the phone rang a lot when he was growing up, he always had a listening ear for his friends and loved to encourage and support them.”
Brian graduated from Johnstown Christian School, Hollsopple, PA. It was his selfless love of family and country that motivated him to enlist in the United States Air Force in 2001. Brian and his wife were expecting their first child and more the anything he wanted to give them the world. He completed basic training and graduated from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. He went on to become a crew chief and serve seven years at three different duty stations, Luke AFB Arizona, Eielson AFB Alaska and Shaw AFB South Carolina. It was during this time that Brian earned his commendation award for meritorious service. His love for music, playing his guitar and riding his motorcycle grew throughout his life, but his favorite past time was always spending time with family, especially his two children.
His second and final overseas deployment was with the 55th Fighters Squadron to the 332 EMXS in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His commander remembers him “as a man who was dedicated to his job, a good trainer who was always willing to teach the Junior airman. He had a way with people, and he built camaraderie wherever he went.” His family and friends remember Brian as someone who had an infectious smile, was very witty and never met a stranger making sure everyone received a bear hug before parting as friends.
